Revenue Authority, Police invade Post newspapers

12115895_1042193459164737_6739062395287588431_nThe Zambia Revenue Authority and Zambia police officers armed to the teeth have invaded the Post newspaper demanding immediate payment of close to K7 million in taxes and penalties.
But the Post newspapers says most of the money the ZRA is demanding using the Zambia police had already been paid.

The ZRA and police served a warranty of distress on the newspaper’s editorial office in Lusaka in the morning on Friday.

ZRA also served a demand notice on the newspaper for K1, 2002, 387 Vat and K8, 767, 095 Pay as you earn, inclusive of penalties and interest.
But the Post stated that ‘we do now owe ZRA any such amounts on VAT.’
In a press statement, the post newspaper explained that the PF government ‘is out to get us’.
The newspaper also accused State House of mobilising government journalists to cover the event probably to get photos as ZRA and police offices grab equipment from the media house.
ZWD comment: These PF maggots should behave themselves. This is a clear case of harassment of the media. Everybody knows that the PF would wish to destroy the Post newspaper so that they can steal and plunder the economy without interruption.
The International community must urgently help the Post newspaper and possibly pay off whatever monies the newspaper owes these government institutions before they use it as excuse to cripple the newspaper.
