Revolutionary Communist Party pulls out of presidential race

As the filing in of nominations continues another political party, Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) has pulled out of the presidential race citing that the party was misinformed by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) concerning its symbol.

Speaking on hot fm, RCP President Mubita Wakumelo said his party had been informed late that its symbol, which is a blue star, was similar to the symbol of another political party.

Wakumelo said it is disheartening that his party will have to start all over again as it has been deprived of contesting the coming elections.

He however, accused the ECZ of using the party symbol as a scapegoat for him not to stand on the RCP ticket, adding that the electoral body is barring him from contesting based on tribal grounds as he is a lozi.
