Mwewa and wife stole govt money to celebrate 1st wedding anniversary

It has since emerged that dismissed, corrupt deputy Agriculture Minister Rodgers Mwewa and his  equally corrupt wife and dismissed Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary Annie Mwewa got married just a year ago.

Sources within the PF have told the Watchdog that Mr and Mrs Mwewa were actually celebrating their first wedding anniversary the time they booked they booked the entire Chisamba Protea Hotel. The two met a year ago in Luapula Province where they working as senior PF government officials.

Rodgers Mwewa was working as Luapula province Minister; Annie Mwitwa Mubanga (now Mrs. Mwewa), then a divorce was working as Permanent secretary in the same province.

Sources say the two started looting public money from Luapula and senior chief Mwata Kazembe used to complain even to president Michael Sata, but he (Sata) could not act on them.

“Mr. Sata has been aware of the corrupt dealings of Rodgers and his wife but all he did was to merely transfer him to Lusaka as one of the many deputies in the Ministry of Agriculture with the wife brought to cabinet office to join a huge chunk of PSs there and so even the dismissals were long overdue,” sources have disclosed.

At cabinet office, Mrs. Annie Mwitwa Mubanga (now Mrs Mwewa) was again involved in corruptly awarding a contract to her relatives worth K3 billion to supply curtains to cabinet office.

“Mr. Sata is aware of this irregular contract tender for supply of curtains to cabinet office worth K3 billion but did nothing. What kind of curtains can be worth K3 billion just for Cabinet Office? And what was wrong with the curtains that were found from the MMD regime? Mr. Sata cannot even get credit for this because the little evidence he fired them for was from Anna Chifungula, the Auditor General,” sources have revealed to the watchdog.

Sources have also disclosed that Annie Mwewa was even looking beyond Rodgers Mwewa as a husband because she used to brag that her ambition was to be the first lady, possibly replacing Dr. Christine Kaseba as Sata’s wife.

“She used to brag that she wanted to be first lady. We don’t know whether she wanted to replace Dr. Kaseba because she was saying she would make sure she attends all the State House functions well groomed and stand near the president so she could be noticed,” sources have revealed.

Ailing dictator Sata recently claimed credit when Auditor General Annie Chifungula revealed corrupt activities of the randy couple, especially after the Watchdog revealed that they recently booked the entire Protea Hotel in Chisamba where they dined and drunk all night from corrupt government dealings.

The Anti-Corruption Commission have since launched investigations on the matter and may soon see the couple having their randy affairs in police cells.
