RTSA suspends Mazhandu/ Wada Chovu licenses

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has suspended the Road Service Licenses for Mazhandu Family Bus Services and Wada Chovu Transport for a period of one month each.
RTSA Director Zindaba Soko however told a media briefing on Monday morning that the suspension is effective 21st April 2016 and will only be lifted once the operators put their ‘houses’ in order.
Mazhandu is one of the leading transport companies in the country and some competitors have recently been pushing for the suspension of Mazhandu following a number of accidents involving the firm’s buses.
Mr. Soko also said that the Operator’s license for Mr. Obrey Membe from Kabwe still remains suspended pending revocation and has been given a seven day ultimatum to show cause why his operator’s license should not be revoked completely.
Mr Obrey Membe’s bus was rammed into by a Wada Chovu bus killing 25 passengers a few weeks ago.
