Ruling in Dora Siliya and others set

The Supreme Court has set Tuesday January 28 2014 as the date for ruling on whether former Petauke Central Member of Parliament Dora Siliya and others can re-contest their seats.
According to one of the lawyers representing the petitioners, Dora Siliya former MP Petauke Central, Maxwell Mwale of Malambo, Hastings Sililo of Mulobezi and Dr. Eaustacio Kazonga former MP of Vubwi constituency will know their fate tomorrow.
Ironically the ruling comes while the Wynter Kabimba tribunal is still seating. For Ms. Siliya and others to take the matter to the highest court of the land, it was because PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba wrote to the judiciary instructing the Acting Chief Justice to write to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to block the above named candidates. Maka Chilombo Phiri who has just been appointed High Judge then as High Court Registrar acted on Kabimba’s instructions and wrote to ECZ to block Ms. Siliya and others. It was at this stage that the matter was referred to the Supreme Court that makes its ruling tomorrow.
