Rupiah’s conscious is not clear, says MP

LUBANSENSHI independent member of parliament Patrick Mucheleka says Rupiah Banda wants to be close to President Edgar Lungu because his conscience is not clear. In an interview, Mucheleka said the former president had lost an opportunity to be a respected statesman. “Rupiah Banda thinks he can buy freedom by always following President Lungu.

RBIf he was a free person, elder statesman, he is the one who would have been sitting somewhere like Dr Kaunda and we would have been going there to consult him,” Mucheleka said.  “But his conscience is not clear because he knows. Sooner than later, it will be President Lungu doing the same. Rupiah Banda ran the most expensive campaign we have ever seen, but where is he right now? People got money, people got things but they still voted them out.” He also appealed to Zambians to reject corruption and fake democracy. “This is not the democracy we wanted to embrace in 1991. What is even sad is that it is the same people basically. It is the same people who were in UNIP, they moved to MMD. The time MMD embraced democracy based on brown envelopes, that is where the MMD lost it. This is where the PF has clearly lost it too, because they think that everything is based on money, no!” Mucheleka said.
