Backed by at least seven cabinet ministers and a horde of PF NEC members, Lusaka mayor Miles Sampa will challenge president Edgar Lungu at the next convention, the Watchdog knows.
According to insiders, ministers opposed to Lungu have resolved to push Sampa as their candidate.
The first move is to ‘work’ on the constitutional court to block Lungu from standing and if that fails, to beat him at the convention just like they beat him in picking Lusaka mayor.
A top PF official has told the Watchdog that Lungu is too naive to notice what is happening around around him. The ministers have amassed too much money and can challenge him just like they imposed Sampa as mayoral candidate when Lungu wanted someone else.
This is a developing story Watch out for more….
