President Michael Sata has been taken to India for his cancer and heart treatment after spending a day in UK at a clinic owned by a prominent Zambian businessman.
A source within State House has revealed to the Watchdog that President Sata arrived in India Thursday afternoon for medical treatment on a journey that was meant to be a secret after attending the African Union Summit in Addis Abbaba.
The Watchdog earlier reported that the Zambian leader was in UK for treatment and might proceed to India depending on the condition.
Meanwhile, the PF media namely Times of PF, Daily PF, ZNBC PF including the PF Post newspaper is in a dilemma on what lies to peddle this time. Even government officials have elected to remain silent for fear of looking foolish.
The PF media, after being paid to lie that Sata arrived in Zambia the same day the AU meeting ended, has now decided not to say anything.
In March last year, president Sata under went treatment at India’s Samved Hospital situated in Navrangpura area.
As was the case last year, government officials kept the trip secret until it was exposed by the ZambianWatchdog and the Indian media.
Government sources lied to the Zambian public that Mr. Sata was in India on a business mission to woo Indian investors who have so far not come to Zambia.
Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda, who is Sata’s uncle, is the Acting President despite remaining mute on the president’s whereabouts.
As an opposition leader, Mr. Sata castigated and mocked then presidents late Levy Mwanawasa and later Rupiah Banda for seeking treatment abroad.
Mr. Sata once called on the Chief Justice to constitute a medical tribunal against Mwanawasa who he claimed was not suitable to continue ruling on account of his medical condition.
President Sata is expected in the country on February 4th or 5th 2013 depending on the success of the medical treatment.
