PRESIDENT Sata has declared a showdown with LAPGreen, saying the Patriotic Front (PF) government is ready to face the Libyan company, which bought 75 per cent shares in Zamtel during the MMD reign.
President Sata has described media reports suggesting that the Libyan firm intends to fight Government’s move to repossess the company to the bitter end as unfortunate
Mr Sata told Zambian journalists at Lanseria International Airport in South Africa shortly before departure for Lusaka yesterday that it was surprising that the firm had taken a confrontational stance despite the many issues surrounding the transaction.
LAPGreen has vowed to do everything possible to fight for the ownership of Zamtel following Government’s review of the controversial sale of the telecommunications company.
The President took off at Lanseria International Airport at about 13:20 hours and was seen off by Zambian High Commissioner to South Africa Muyeba Chikonde, Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Peter Kasanda and other senior government officials.
