Sata expected in Zim for SADC meeting next week

President Michael Sata has been invited by Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe for the 34th Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Heads of State Summit to be held between August 17 and 18 2014 in the

town of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

State House contacts have said the invitation was received two weeks ago.

” Yes the President is supposed to go for SADC Heads of State Summit in Zimbabwe. It takes place between 17 and 18th of this month and he is supposed to leave on 16 August,” the source said.

The source said it was however highly unlikely that the Sata would manage to go due to ill health. Further, the source said Ceremonial Vice President Guy Scott is likely to represent Sata though Scott also has a round two-campaign engagement in Mangango.

” It is very tricky. His honour the Vice President is expected to represent the President but he also has a programme to go to Mangango again for the campaigns,” the source said.

Fifteen Heads of State, five former presidents and about 700 delegates are expected to attend this year’s SADC Summit, which will be hosted by Robert Mugabe.

Victoria town is very close to Livingstone.
