Sata, huge delegation expected in Ethiopia

President Michael Sata is expected to arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Thursday to attend the 18th Summit of Heads  of state and government of the African Union (AU).

The Zambia advance delegation at the summit includes Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Bob Sichinga, Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary for Administration Annie Sinyangwe, Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Peter Kasanda and a plethora of other  top government officials and security personnel.

The theme of this year’ summit is “boosting Intra-Africa Trade”.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Francis Simenda confirmed this when he
briefed Zambian journalists today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Sata is also expected to attend a feast with Zambians based in Ethiopia at the residence of the Zambian Ambassador in Addis Ababa.

This is the third international trip Sata will be taking since becoming president a few months ago.

In the first two months, he said he will avoid international travels in order to cut government costs
