Sata orders police to arrest and charge William Banda with motor vehicle theft

Police in Livingstone have impounded the vehicle belonging to UPND member William Banda and are now looking for him with a view to re-arrest him.

UPND and police sources in Livingstone say dictator president Michael Sata is not happy that Mr. Banda was completely discharged of murder case by the courts yesterday.

Police detectives are looking for him and want to slap with a non-bailable offence of motor vehicle theft with a view to keep him for a longer period in police cells.

So far, a number of UPND members are still being held and have not even been brought to court four days after they were arrested for alleged links with the death of the PF cadre.

Zambian laws dictate that someone should not be held beyond 48 hours after being arrested without appearing in court.

Among those still being held include UPND parliamentarian for Kalomo Request Muntanga, Chairperson for elections Ackson Sejani, Livingstone Mayor Aggrey Njekwa who also signed bail for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.

There also several cadres being held that may end up spending the weekend in the cells without appearing in courts.
