Sata’ s pay was hiked by 57 not 100%, says cabinet office

Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Ronald Msiska says the President’s Salary was increased by 57 percent and not 100 percent.

Dr Msiska says some people are mistakenly calculating the increase by lumping two adjustments effected during the MMD regime and the latest adjustment.

He says the government embarked on adjusting salaries for constitutional office bearers to get rid of what he called distortions and lack of harmony in salaries among government wings.

Former president Rupiah Banda was getting K167 million  per annm upto the time he left office. Current president Michael Sata gets  K320 million per annum with effect from April 1, 2o12.
