The Chipolopolo boys, who are African soccer champions, were yesterday conferred free-men-of-Lusaka-city at the Civic centre grounds where the president was expected to be guest of honour.
The President’s speech was read by Minister of Local Government and Housing Emily Kabanshi.
President Sata assuring the Chipolopolo of government’s continued support.
Sata said the Chipolopolo’s achievement is undoubtedly outstanding and commended LCC for the gesture.
The honour which is one of the highest in the land has been conferred to eminent citizens such as Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the late former presidents Levy Mwanawasa and Frederick Chiluba as well as former South African president Nelson Mandela in recognition of their distinguished services they have rendered.
