Sata to travel to Uganda

President Michael will Wednesday travel to Uganda for the  International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)   Heads of State Summit.

Uganda will be hosting an International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)   Heads of State Summit from 15th-16th December 2010 .  More than 11 Heads of State and Government are expected to attend the Summit.

Zambia is currently the chair of ICGLR and Sata will handover to Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni.

Sata will travel with his wife, defence Minsiter Geoffrey Mwamba, Foreign affairs minister Chishimba Kambwili and a group of other officials.

The Summit will dedicate a Special Session to deliberate and strategies on addressing the pervasive challenge of  Sexual gender based violence in the Great Lakes Region both in conflict and peace times  in all its various manifestations. The theme of the Summit is: United to Prevent, End Impunity and provide Assistance to Victims of Sexual Gender Based Violence.

Member states of the ICGLR are:  Angola, Burundi, CAR, DRC, Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia. We expect the Republic of South Sudan to be admitted to the ICGLR family during the summit.

This will be the first time Sata will be travelling out of Zambia since he became president
