Sata promises to upgrade Great East road to dual carriageway

The Patriotic Front government will transform the Great East Road into a dual carriageway to help curb the rising cases of traffic accidents and boost economic activity in Eastern Province.

PF president Michael Sata told Chief Ndake of Nyimba district when the chief complained that the road between Nyimba and Chongwe was so bad that it has become the order of the day to lose lives on the highway.

The PF leader also said the PF in government will link Eastern and Central provinces by building a road between Nyimba and Mkushi.

And Chief Ndake of the Nsenga people in Nyimba has told Patriotic Front president Michael Sata that the people of Zambia are the final arbiters in September 20 presidential elections.

It is therefore not correct for some chiefs to create an impression that Zambians cannot accept an alternative leaders if it so decided through the ballot.

The PF leader paid a courtesy call on the chief before addressing a rally in Petauke on July 30.

Sata over the weekend campaigned in Chadiza and Lundazi and is Monday expected to wind up his tour of duty in Katete.
