Michael Chilufya Sata as President has majored in addressing peripheral issues that have little or no impact in alleviating the suffering of the majority poor Zambians.
Michael Sata’s assertion that the opposition are defending the corrupt rich is not only false but highly misleading and scandalous. The true position is that it is Mr. Sata who is defending his corrupt rich friends.
Zambians should not forget that among the first action of the Sata Presidency was to award his rich friend Mr. Alexander Bwalya Chikwanda’s company a contract worth over K600 million to renovate State House, through a process of single sourcing, which he previously demonised when he was an opposition leader. This is hypocrisy of the highest order.
In the current case of the three suspended judges, it is Mr. Sata who is protecting his rich friends, Mutembo Nchito and Fred Membe from paying back the poor tax payers money of over K14 billion kwacha owed to Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ). It must be stated that failure to pay back a loan from a public institution amounts to abuse of public funds and is a special form of corruption.
Mr. Sata should not think that he will get away with lies as the opposition front is prepared to offer effective checks and balances. If indeed, Mr. Sata was concerned about the poor, he could have been majoring in paying retirement packages for the poor people who have rendered service to this country and their benefits remain unpaid.
We challenge Mr. Sata to name the rich corrupt individuals that the opposition is protecting.
Secondly, we are wondering why the President is insisting on the tribunal if he already knows that the judges are corrupt, is it because he wants to continue paying his rich “friends” and depriving the poor Zambians?
