UPND supporters on Thursday escaped unhurt when the truck they were travelling in was hit by a vehicle driven by PF Chamboli ward councilor Sidney Ndovu.
The truck was heading to Kafulafuta in the on-going campaigns for the forthcoming by-elections on the way from Ndola when the accident happened. The PF couniclor was in a convoy of vehicles coming from their campaign trail in Kafulafuta with other senior party officials including Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili and the Kitwe Mayor among others.
Police traffic personnel rushed to the scene of the accident who took the matter to Masala.
But UPND supporters have affirmed their commitment to scooping the Kafulafuta seat despite the alleged unfair tactics from the ruling party saying the accident was a deliberate attack to intimidate the opposition.
Councilor Ndovu was driving a blue Progress salon car after a campaign meeting in for next month’s parliamentary by-election.
