Saving with ZSIC is like delivering your own property to a thief

2016-03-22 03.02.10Please allow me some space in our widely read publication to register my complaint about the poor services by Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZISC) to its life policy customers. While it is so much talked about and advised that we should develop a saving culture as individuals but to save with ZISC LIFE policies is like delivering your own property to a thief for safe-keeping. In 2012 I bought a ZISC LIFE policy in Mansa and contributed via a direct debit through my Zanaco account. I contributed for 28 months but unfortunately my resources dwindled and decided to claim back my contributions this January 2016 but ever since January 9th when I applied for the refunds I seem to have hit a bedrock. It is so near impossible to get not only contribution refunds but maturing LIFE POLICY Cover Sums too. Premium contributions are policyholders’ funds which are supposed to be paid back on demand at either maturity or on cancellation but with ZISC LIFE ASSURANCE it’s nearly impossible. With this kind of operational attitude by our supposed National Insurance House I wonder how many will cry allowed without changing their perception of the supposedly good idea of saving with this Insurance House. It is my sincere hope that this is not happening in other insurance houses.

To ZISC my advice is policies are not physical products that customers can physically touch and immediately enjoy their possession but are promises whose quality depends more on customer satisfaction after service and if customer satisfaction is so poor as it is with your services then I bet you will register dwindling service confidence resulting in lower new customer levels. Please up the quality of your services if you are to remain competitive and relevant to the Zambian life assurance market.
And for the prospecting customers please think again before considering ZISC LIFE. In my visits to their offices in Lusaka I have met people whose policies have matured and have been chasing their dues since October 2015 and some work union leader who is under pressure from his union members for refunds since December 2015.
Note it may not be ZISC LIFE but ZISC AFTERLIFE.
For proof of my complaint here is my policy acceptance letter. I have submitted the other documents though.
