Scores of cholera patients ‘arrested’ after escaping from hospital in Siavonga

Just a day after the nation was told that Siavonga has recorded one cholera case only as of yesterday, Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama now says several cholera patients escaped from the hospital after gaining strength.
He said the patients escaped from the hospital but were rounded up by the police and brought back to the hospital.
The cholera patients escaped from the hospital in full view of health staff that just watched helplessly until the police was called in to arrest and bring back the patients to the hospital.
Yesterday Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya said Siavonga had only one case of cholera recorded. It is not clear where the cholera patients that are said to have escaped after gaining strength came from going by the ‘official’ figures from the government.
