Acting President Dr. Guy Scott says thuggish behaviour by PF will not cow people into voting for the ruling party’s candidate in the forthcoming Presidential by election.

Dr. Scott made the remarks in the wake of Edgar Lungu’s PF thugs’ violence against journalists from Muvi TV and Post newspapers on Saturday and Sunday during the rallies in Mongu and Mandevu compound respectively. Lungu’s supporters abducted and harassed Muvi TV’s Lloyd Kapusa and Post newspapers photo journalist David Kashiki during their execution of duties.

Speaking when he met the American Ambassador Eric Schultz, Dr. Scott described as outrageous the attacks on Kapusa. He told the Post newspaper that “it looks to be that it is the same people from Lusaka who are going to all these rallies causing the same incident”.

The acting President told the American envoy that he was in touch with the Inspector General of police to ensure that peace prevailed during the election.

PF thugs have of late been beating up journalists and ordinary citizens seen to be wearing opposition parties regalia in an effort to intimidate them.
