Ceremonial vice- President Guy Scott says the Patriotic Front (PF) government won the September 2011 elections because it had a message for the people of Zambia.
Scott said the PF government was not a government of the rich but of the poor as its main aim was to put food on the table and wasputting education first.
The PF Vice-President said this in Livingstone today when he addressed a public rally at Potters market.
He said UPND president Hakainde Hichilema had been in Livingstone and was giving people money but noted that the PF won the September 2011 elections because it had a message adding that it had no money.
Dr Scott said UPND must not give money to the people but must find a message for them.
Scott also donated undisclosed sums of money which he said should go towards the building of the toilets at the market.
Realising his own hypocrisy, Scott explained that the money he had given out was his own personal money meant for
the construction of toilets.
The ceremonial vice-president also noted that when the PF government won its elections, it had no former MMD Provincial Chairman for Lusaka province William Banda adding that if you have William Banda, you are ”dead” as a party.
”UNIP had William Banda, it died, He was in MMD, MMD is dead.
William Banda is now in UPND, this is death,” he said.
Speaking at the same function, Southern Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta said the PF party had continued to align itself to the poor.
He said Zambia was in wrong hands for the past 20 years and congratulated Zambians for having put it in the right hands of
President Micheal Sata. Sata was in MMD for the first and most destructive 10 years.
Mwaliteta observed that tribal politics were over and called on people to support the government of the day which was closer to the people.
”We are not going to align ourselves with the rich. All we are asking you people of Livingstone is to give us a Patriotic Front MP so that you can have representation in the Livingstone City Council and so that you can benefit from the K1 billion Constituency Development Fund,” he said.
