Acting President Guy Scott has again abandoned Edgar Lungu’s campaign trail and has instead travelled to Itezhi Tezhi today to ‘inspect government projects’.
Scott and Lungu ‘reconciled’ after the Former Intelligence Chief Xavier Chungu and Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe connived to forced Scott to accept some form truce and move forward.
But sources within the PF say Scott is again getting uneasy with the insults and the lack of new messages in the PF campaign team as whatever is being promised by Lungu is exactly what his government should have done along time ago, and has also become the campaign themes for the UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
“Actually the entire PF campaign team is in disarray as they now sound like mere copy cuts of the UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s messages. We are now mere imitators of HH’s campaign messages when we are in government. For example, HH has been talking about reinstating all the fired nurses, Edgar says me too, HH says we shall recognise ba Sosala as Chitimukulu, Lungu says me too, HH says we will reduce the retirement age from 65 to 55, Lungu equally says me too, HH says we will scrap off the wage freeze, Lungu says me too, HH says we will reduce the price of mealie meal, our candidate says me too, HH says I will move the headquarters of Zambia Railways from Lusaka back to Kabwe, Lungu does the same,” a source with the PF campaign team revealed.
Lungu is currently on a lone campaign trail in Northern province in the same places the UPND’s Hakainde and team went, but chances are Scott may probably join later, especially on the Kasama rally, depending on how they harmonise the messages to reduce insults and sounding copy cuts in promising things they are supposed to be implementing as they are in government..
