Chawama MP Edgar Lungu says acting president Guy Scott is his deputy.
Lungu says will Scott will eventually start campaigning for him as they belong to the same party.
Lungu said said he is not at war with his vice and that the two have the same interests.
“There is no need for reconciliation because we are not at war. As you may be aware, he is still my vice. It is just a perception,” he said.
He said this in an interview with journalists yesterday shortly after a closed-door meeting with United States (US) Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz.
Lungu said Scott will join the campaign when he is ready
“So far, the campaigns are going on well and I assured the Ambassador that we will win the elections and ensure that peace is maintained,” Mr Lungu said.
He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo, PF secretary general Davis Chama and Chipili member of Parliament Davies Mwila.
On Sunday. Lungu said he lwould reverse the retirement age law which Scott signed a few weeks back.
Last week, Lungu travelled to Zimbabwe to meet president Robert Mugabe without getting clearance from his acting president maybe because like he said there is no need to get clearance from his junior.
