Scott said to take over as president

The remaining Zambian cabinet was due to meet at 05: 00 hours on Wednesday Zambian time to formalise power transfer to vice-president Guy Scott, government sources have revealed.
The main agenda of the meeting was for acting president Edgar Lungu to handover power to Scott. Most likely, it is after this formality that the Zambia government will announce the passing on of president Michael sata.

It is not yet clear if Lungu will agree to handover as he may argue that he is the one to lead the country to the by-election. Lungu and some ministers had a meeting around midnight when they heard the news.

President Michael sata died in London Tuesday evening.

Sata died at King Edward VII’s hospital, Beaumont St, Central London where he had been hospitalised from October 19, 2014. He died around 21 hours Zambian time.
At his death bed was his wife, three of sons including Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata.

The Zambian Watchdog has for the past two and half years being consistently reporting that president Sata is sick, attracting attacks and insults from government and their supporters.
