Mwense woman burns husband’s first wife with hot water

A 40 year old woman of Shingwe Village in Chief Kashiba’s area in Mwense district is battling for her life at Mwense rural health centre.

This was after she was burned with hot water by her husband’s second wife in the same area after a marital dispute.

Both Luapula province Police Commissioner Joseph Mutale and the victim confirmed the incident in an interview with ZANIS in Mwense district.

He named the victim as Lister Musabila 40 and the suspect as Saini Mikoyani both of chief Kashiba in Mwense district.

And narrating the ordeal to ZANIS on her hospital bed, Musabila said the incident happened around 19 hours on Thursday when she went to report the sickness of her child to the husband who was staying with his second wife.

She said the second wife refused to call the husband whom she said was asleep and later went into the house.

Musabila added that the second wife then came out and poured boiling water on her body which resulted in her sustaining serious burns on the left side of the head and chest.

The suspect has since been arrested by the police while the victim is admitted at Mwense rural health centre.

And in a related development, Mr. Mutale disclosed that three people of chief Kashiba’s area have been admitted at Mambilima mission hospital after being involved in a motorbike accident.

Mr. Mutale said the accident happened on Thursday around 18:30 hours when a motorbike hit into the bicycle carrying two people along Mwense – Kashiba road.

The Police Commissioner named the motorbike rider as Danny Mwaba 20, cyclist as Elizabeth Mwelwa and the passenger on the bicycle as Mercy Mwape 18 respectively.

He said the motorbike rider sustained multiple bruises on the body and a cut on his head while the two others sustained bruises on their heads and knees.
