The recently launched mobile registration exercise is being conducted secretly to enable PF capture more of its cadres on the data base in readiness for issuance of voters cards for next year’s general elections.
The first phase which will covers Central, Luapula and Muchinga provinces and is expected to cost about K30m is however being carried out secretly. Instead of being conducted at polling stations as announced, the exercise is being conducted at undesignated places.
A check by the Zambian watchdog at most polling stations in central province which is perceived to be a stronghold for opposition revealed non presence of registration officers. Also in Kasama central constituency, the registration was highly secretive. Mubanga Chipoya in Kasama na kambotole polling stations in Kasama had no registration officers in spite of being major polling stations in kasama central constituency.
