Secretary to police swindles Mufulira residents

Editor,

In Mufulira district, about 200 residents have been swindled by the Secretary to the  Mufulira police commanding office by the name of Bertha and Mr Musenge the payslip collector on the pretext  that they will be employed for national registration card exercise. The residents were made to pay between k1500 to k4000 to either Bertha or Musenge. Surprisingly, when the exercise of national registration card began on Monday 2nd October, 2015, the names of people who were swindled were not there or called to attend the briefing which was in Ndola. However, they were told by Bertha to meet at Woods which is the Amy’s junior club. There, the residents were told to wait for 45 days, as the ministry of home affairs is aware of them paying the ministry,  so that they could  be contracted for the exercise. This lie prompted the people concerned to take them to police. But the case might go not far as senior police officers at mufulira police station are involved. Therefore, we appeal to relevant people to take action.
