Senior PF official says UPND has best MPs

Eastern province PF chairperson and former MMD Chipata central MP Lameck Mangani says UPND-dominated Southern Province has more MPs of caliber than most areas of the country.
“If you go to parliament now, go and look at the caliber of MPs from Southern province. Compare those MPs from other regions and possibly even Eastern province. Now there is Parliament Radio, just listen to Parliament Radio, the contribution of MPs from Southern province, compare to your own MPs here. Your own MPs in most cases issue emotional statements, MPs from Southern province, if they want to engage government, they do that at a higher level,” Mangani is quoted by the PF aligned Post newspaper as having told Chipata’s Breeze FM radio during a radio interview.
Mangani, a teacher by profession was first elected Chipata Central MP in 2006 and held senior cabinet positions including that of Home affairs minister in the MMD reign. He later defected to the PF and lost the seat in 2011, petitioned but was last year unceremoniously trounced by MMD’s Mutolo Phiri and openly wept following the defeat.
At the moment he is engaged in PF underhand campaign methods in pending by elections in Petauke central, Malambo and Vubwi constituencies contrary to electoral rules, as the said seats are a subject of litigation.
