Seven escape being sacrificed in Kasama accident

Seven people narrowly escaped death when a Noah car registration number ACP 5287 hit into a tree as the driver was trying to run away from a road block mounted by police Road Transport and Safety Agency (RATSA) along the airport road in Kasama yesterday.

Only a pregnant mother Godfridah Kanyanta 37 was rushed to Kasama General Hospital and a check on her by ZANIS found that she could not talk as she was in pain.

Northern Police Deputy Commissioner Lackson Sakala has since warned motorists in the province to observe traffic rules or the law will visit those found wanting.

He said most cases of accidents reported in the recent past can be avoidable but most private pirators opt to over speed on the narrow township roads which have just been graded.

Last week a 67 year old man and a two year old baby boy were hit by an over speeding taxi and died on the spot while four others sustained injuries.
