Shamenda says Gen. Miyanda is just bitter against Sata

The PF regime has castigated opposition Heritage Party president Godfrey Miyanda for describing the Patriotic Front (PF) administration’s one year in office as a joke.
Acting Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Fackson Shamenda says Brigadier General Miyanda’s statement should be a reflection “of his dwindling political career and a sign of bitterness against President Sata and the PF”.
Mr Shamenda, who is also Minister of Labour, said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that Gen Miyanda’s assertions are malicious because the PF government has scored achievements and positive changes in governance.
He said it is unfortunate that Gen Miyanda is also allegedly showing bitterness towards “objective political leaders like National Restoration Party president Elias Chipimo and Forum for Democracy and Development president Edith Nawakwi”.
Mr Shamenda said Gen Miyanda is being “economical with the truth” to suggest that the PF has not achieved anything in one year.
“In fact it is Gen Miyanda’s statement which can rightly be said to be a joke because objective Zambians can attest to the fact that although the sailing PF boat has not been without challenges, a lot of good things have been achieved for the country,” he said.
The minister said Gen Miyanda should concentrate on selling his political ideas such as the ‘village concept’, which he said Zambians have rejected.
“We do not even know if he has followers or if indeed the Heritage Party exists. For a man of his credentials, it will be good for him to keep quiet and reflect,” he said.
