Shoprite strike in Kabwe, 3 picked as Manager’s vehicle is deflated

kabwekabwe 2As Shoprite workers’ countrywide strike entered second day today, there was tension at the Kabwe store when unknown people deflated the left rear tyre of a Toyota Raider Van belonging to the company’s Africa General Manager Gerald Fritz.

Fritz, in the company of three other people suspected to be in his entourage found the tyre deflated while they were coming out of a meeting with the managers at the store, they struggled to replace the tyre while workers sung songs denouncing him.

Afterwards, police from Kabwe central police were called in and apprehended three workers who were found at the premises, charges were not explained but some workers spoken to said Shoprite management were trying to intimidate them but they have vowed not to bow to any form of intimidation.
