Shutting of internet, mobile phones starts ahead of voting

Editor,

The news is that Edgar Lungu has ordered all Zambia network providers to close their service centres tomorrow. It is also reported that networks will be shut down, meaning there will be no network the whole Zambia. This is to be done to facilitate rigging by FP as polling agents who will note anything strange or fishy in polling station will not be able to report anything via phones calls, SMS , whatsapp, whatssapp or whatever. This strategy worked for Malawi’s Peter Muthalika in 2014. He used his running mate,Saulos Chilima, Former Airtel Malawi CEO, to carry it out against Joyce Banda, who was transparent. This move should be protested by all well meaning Zambians. Lungu is not bigger than Zambia.

Airtel is already sending these messages to customers:

Dear Customer, please note that all our Airtel Service Centres will be closed on election day 11th August, 2016 and will reopen 12th August, 2016.

While should Airtel close service centres on voting and counting days? What kind of maintenance are they carrying out which has to be done on voting and counting days?

Surely they can’t say they want their workers to go and vote because voting is only on 11 so why shut down on 12th as well.
Airtel don’t be used by PF. You already have a bad name for pathetic services now don’t annoy Zambians even more.
