Siliya: we are not interested in Sata’s death or ailment

THE MMD has dismissed assertions by Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata that the ruling party wants to kill him.
MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya said Mr Sata has made serious allegations which he should report to the police with evidence, to ensure that the matter is investigated.
Ms Siliya said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that it is unfair for Mr Sata to make such claims because no-one in the MMD would wish Mr Sata dead and he is making malicious accusations to win sympathy from the people.
“We have better things to do instead of preoccupying ourselves with the baseless issues Mr Sata is bringing out,” Ms Siliya said.
She said the MMD has issues to explain to the people and will not be distracted by claims from the PF leader.
She said Mr Sata is ‘delusional’ and has lost sight of issues, which is why he is making unfounded accusations that the MMD is planning to kill him.
Ms Siliya said the MMD is interested in improving the lives of Zambians and cannot sacrifice the needs of the people by preoccupying itself with an individual.
She said the MMD is serious about delivering its promises to people who want to choose leaders they can trust.
“We have no time to think about Mr Sata and his illness or whatever is troubling him because we are busy planning what we can and will do for the nation,” Ms Siliya said.
Ms Siliya said Mr Sata has failed to show Zambians that he can be trusted and has, therefore, resorted to making allegations.
“If he has no issues to discuss, then he should leave the campaigns for more serious people who want to help the people,” Ms Siliya said.
She said opinion polls have shown who the people would rather vote for, and this has made him jittery.
“The opinion polls have stated clearly what the people want and why would anyone want to waste their time on Mr Sata? Ms Siliya asked.
Ms Siliya said it is important to dwell on issues during campaigns and not to make allegations that will agitate the people.
She said the MMD does not need to discredit anyone on the campaign trail because it has a lot of development issues to explain.
Ms Siliya said the PF leader is intimidated by the MMD campaign strategy and it is clear that people do not want to listen to him anymore.
“We are busy explaining issues to the people and the campaign strategy is to tell people what you have done and what you will do for them if elected or re-elected. No-one will listen to you if you have nothing to show,” Ms Siliya said.
Mr Sata said on Thursday that the MMD has been wishing him ill and will stop at nothing to discredit him. He also alleged that the ruling party is planning to kill him.
