President Michael Sata has appointed UPND Sinazongwe MP Richwell Siamunene as Commerce Minister in his government.
The action by the president comes barely a week after the UPND expelled their Itezhi Tezhi MP Greyford Monde for gross indiscipline and not following party procedures.
There is no word from UPND so far as their leaders are currently detention in police cells in Livingstone.
Mr. Siamunene has been facing charges in UPND and the party is likely to take action against him.
The Watchdog recently reported that Mr. Siamunene was one of the MPs who has accepted a position in the PF government.
There has been growing concern in Zambia that the porching of opposition MPs has eroded democracy in Zambia, a situation that many fear will create a one party state.
