Slave trading is not job creation

Slave trading is not job creation

The PF government has collaborated with the Gulf region to send 1,000 Zambians per year to Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates to work as waiters/waitresses, drivers and maids.

Finance Minister and PF Chairperson for Commerce Hon. Mrs. Margaret Mwanakatwe made the announcement when she featured on the PF Interactive Forum at Chrismar Hotel yesterday.

The Minister proudly said this is fulfilling PF promises for jobs, as employment creation ranks top on its list of priorities.

Mwebantu, I am having difficulties with this type of reasoning. In fact this is cheap thinking and does not solve the challenges of our time; poverty, joblessness and inequality.

Firstly, it’s shocking that a Government Minister would proudly call this arrangement as job creation. The fact that goverment is pimping out its citizens to go and work as maids and waiters/waitresses in far away places is an indication of failure in itself to create sustainable jobs. In fact, this is modern day slave trading. It is perfectly fine if Zambians take up those jobs on their own, not government becoming a broker for slave trading and proudly calling it job creation.

Secondly, the Gulf region is a known place for extreme exploitation of workers and racism, and the objective reality is that most people who do jobs like waitress/waiter, drivers and maids get peanuts for long hours of work. The PF Government should consult East African Countries like Kenya, Burundu and Somalia who had their people working in the Gulf region, they were mistreated, no minimum wage, assaulted, starved, no human rights and paid peanuts. That is why no one wants to work there any more, but our government opportunistically want to slave trade Zambians ati job creation. Macabre!

Start thinking, make our economy to work and create sustainable jobs. Not this slave trading nonsense.

A simple google of “abuse of maids or foreign workers in the Gulf Region” answers all what is discussed above.

Women are usually raped by employers and their sons. If you are a man you ‘ll remember the last woman you had s.. with and you ‘ll miss her like hell. You ‘ll forget how women look like. Send PF carders and let them go and learn discipline

This job creation is total idiocy and you even state that pay is so high. Are there no nearby countries with similar culture and religion where they can get workers from? You want to sell people to slavery. You already know how Zambian workers are treated locally. Tefyabu chakolwa if?

The Government should seriously look elsewhere if it wants its Nationals to do these manual jobs. The Gulf Region has VERY POOR human rights adherence particularly for emigrants.Workers are usually abused to the extent that some maids get turned into sex slaves. In any case how come the Minister of Finance is the one announcing these jobs instead of either the Minister of Labour or indeed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Pipo it happened in the UNIP era when Kaunda sent labourers to Iraqi and Kuwait. They came back home with nothing. Up to now none of them has been paid. Pf is just dreaming.

Maids, waitresses, etc get abused there and their governments rarely do anything. A lot of East Africans have been going there and I suspect they are now shunning pursuing jobs there because of abuses and yet our government is proud to say we have created jobs!!

And yet you steal money to build casinos build and buy mansions in zambia and abroad. How many of these PF thieves and thugs think of opening up manufacturing facilities? We still import matches and toothpicks. Do you know what could be done locally with our natural resources if these dunderheads in government were committed to growing our economy through value addition to our resources. But again that is rocket science to people like Lungu.

Chinese Indians Europeans and white south africans are treking to Zambia because of its ernomous natural resources and opportunities and yet you are sending your own people into slavery !!.Zambians are naturally proud people and so please dont forcibly take away their dignity.

Go and see some psychiatrists for mental analysis because your support for such an evil endeavor is a clear sign of mental disorder.

This lady, so called Finance Minister, has no feelings for ordinary Zambians. After all her true Name is Margaret M’hango from Malawi. She is only interested in money for herself.

Negative idiots. Will your small god hh creat jobs for everyone? What is wrong with unskilled labour to earn a living as a maid, driver etc?
