Soccer fans in Zambia say the heartily welcome the draws which has pitted the chipolopolos with Sudan in the quarter finals of the on-going orange African Cup of nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea.
ZANIS sports reports Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fans Association (ZAVOSOFA) Patron, Peter Makembo saying that Zambia is expected to easily beat Sudan and qualify to the semi-finals of the tournament.
Makembo said in an interview in Lusaka today that the game will be a walk over for Zambia adding that nothing will stop the Chipolopolo boys who topped group A from reaching the finals.
He has however expressed disappointment that Angola lost to Ivory Coast which meant the two teams avoiding meeting each other in the
Makembo explained that he had wanted the team to play Ivory Coast to prove to the world that Zambia is no mean -achievers.
Zambia was prior to the tournament rated as underdogs has proved their worth by first beating pre-tournament favourites Senegal before drawing with Libya and silencing the host nation in the final group stage game.
” We just hope that this could be Zambia’s year of lifting the continent trophy which has eluded them in the past, ” he said.

He stated that this is not good to the Zambian players adding that the same thing happened in the last Africa cup of nation’s tournament in
Angola where he favoured Nigeria to win the tournament and the team lost to Nigeria when they met in the quarter finals stage.
“There is s great chance of Zambia meeting Ghana in the next stages so if he continues tipping them we might see our boys demoralised and
losing that game.
” If he is hearing he should stop this behavior and allow the boys to play their game. May be he has bought, ” he said.
The ZAVOSOFA patron added that there was no way Renard can continue putting his money on other teams when his team is also participating and is playing good football.
Zambia is playing Sudan in the first quarter final game of this year’s AFON tournament.
The two teams also met at the last AFCON tournament in Angola where Zambia emerged victorious after beating Sudan 3-0.
Zambia and Sudan are also pitted in group D of 2014 Brazil world cup qualifiers together with Ghana and Lesotho.
