Sons nabbed over father’ killing

Police in Mpika are holding two brothers in connection with the killing of their father over his wealth.

Police source confirmed the detention of Mali Mweemba 26 and his younger brother Choongo Mweemba 23 over allegations of  murdering their father Raphael Mweemba, a farmer of Chipunduu area in Mpika.

Police source said Mweemba was ambushed and killed in the evening of December the 29th 2009 as he was cycling from his Chipundu farm to Mpika boma.

The source said after allegedly killing their father, they robbed him of eight million kwacha cash which he had at the time of his death and damped his body in his farm.

Police source added that mweemba’s had multiple injuries on his head and body.

Efforts to get a comment from Northern Province Commanding Officcer Charles Lungu proved futile.

But a source within the Provincial office commanding Officer confirmed receiving the report and said the duo would be charged for murder.

“Yes, I can confirm that the police command in the province is aware of the two sons killing their father in Mpika and they will be charged for murder,” said the source.
