Sorry, no freedom of Information law now, says Sata

President Michael Sata says it is immature for government to introduce and enact the Freedom of Information Bill (FoIB) because more people in rural areas are not sensitized on the matter.

President Sata says unless people in rural areas and other parts of the country are aware and sensitized on the matter, shall the country have the Bill.

ZANIS reports that President Sata was speaking at State House today when he swore-in Mwansa Kapeya as Deputy Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Labour.

“You can’t have an Information Bill when most people are not aware. I have heard televisions and newspapers propagating for Zambia to have the FoIB but not until when people are sensitized and are aware then we can ably say we are ready to have such a Bill,” President Sata said.
