Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya people has claimed that all Chiefs in Southern Province have unanimously endorsed and pledged to support President Rupiah Banda’s candidature in this year’s tripartite elections.
Chief Mukuni told journalists in Livingstone on Firday that the resolution was passed at the recently held consultative meeting in Mazabuka .
President Rupiah Banda was in Mazabuka on Tuesday and met the chiefs who pledged to give him a report on the choice of their candidate for this year’s elections after their consultative meeting.
Chief Mukuni says chiefs in Southern Province have decided to uphold their 2008 resolutions to support President Banda due to the many developmental programmes he has brought to the province.
Chief Mukuni also says the traditional rulers are happy with governments move to purchase one million cattle vaccines for Southern Province.
