Southern Province Minister and also MMD Livingstone Member of Parliament Lukulo Katombola has allegedly forged sick leave documents and submitted them to the Livingstone High Court on Tuesday a day before election petition could take off.
This came to light when the lawyer representing petitioners from UPND and PF made a submission in the chambers for the sick leave to be authenticated.
The losing candidates who are petitioning the election are UPND’s Fredrick Chunga and PF’s Joseph Akafumba.
Lawyer John Kapepe of MAK Partners who was accompanied by journalists from Sky Fm, The Post Newspaper and Times of Zambia tookLivingstoneGeneralHospitalacting superintendent to task to explain the genuineness of the sick leave.
Kapepe demanded that the signature on the document be verified and clarified if it was signed by the senior doctor or someone else.
He further demanded an explanation from Dr. Zyambo if it was normal for the person who signed the sick leave to use a departmental stamp instead of using the hospital stamp.
Dr. Zyambo who was flanked by senior administration officer was at pains to explain how the sick leave was processed as he requested for management to be given time to investigate the issue.
He accepted that the document was signed by a junior officer but refused to disclose the names of the officer.
And the Livingstone High Court Judge Ernest Mukulwamutiyo has adjourned that the matter to 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th December 2011.
The petition was just held in the Chammbers while UPND and PF supporters and sympathizers were outside the court to give solidarity to their candidates.
Chunga is the first petitioner while Akafumba is the second petitioner while Lukulo is the first respondent, the attorney general and second respondent
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front (PF) in Southern Province has expressed disappointment with the behaviour of the provincial minister Lukulo Katombola who has forged a sick leave.
Provincial Youth Chairman Brave Mwetwa says that the PF has lost confidence in Mr. Katombola and demand that he be dropped on genuine grounds.
Mr. Mwetwa says that Mr. Lukulo has not been in parliament for over three weeks now while his colleagues and busy with national duties.
He said that Mr. Lukulo has fooled the court of law by presenting a fake sick leave claiming he is sick when he has been seen driving himself around town in his ministerial vehicle.
Mr. Mwetwa who led a group of PF cadres matched to Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) offices and Muvi TV to express them selves.
He said that Mr. Lukulo should appear before the courts of law if he genuinely won the elections in Livingstone.
Mr. Mwetwa accused Mr. Lukulo of having a corrupt mind and cheater.
And PF Akapelwa Ward Councillor Paul Sensele has observed that PF in Livingstone is not ready and willing to work with Mr. Lukulo.
Mr. Sensele has since called on the Zambia Police and Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate Mr. Lukulo and established how and why he forged sick leave.
