South UPND vice-chair joins PF

Southern Province UPND Provincial vice Chairlady for women affairs Phoebe Kaoma and Five MMD Livingstone Constituency Executive officials have ditched their respective parties to join the Patriotic Front.

Ms Kaoma has left the UPND with 35 other members to join the PF on reasons that she and her followers are tired of being in the opposition.

Speaking during the defections in Livingstone on Sunday afternoon, Ms Kaoma said it was better to work with the government of the day for the benefits of the nation and that the PF’s manifesto is similar to the UPND’s manifesto.

Ms. Kaoma said that there is no need to criticize the PF because it has clearly indicated its intentions to better the standard of living for the people of Zambia.

And MMD group leader for the 154 defectors Damson Mishengo said that his group has decided to leave the MMD because they are not seeing the resurrection of the party since they lost the election in 2011.

Mr. Mishengo who was the Constituency Vice treasure at the time he left the MMD said that he has defected with four other Constituency executives with an intention to help the PF win the Livingstone parliamentary bye election.

He named other officials as Barbara Nkandu Vice secretary, Beatrice Mpondela Youth publicity secretary, Mulemwa Muyunda Trustee, and Junior Mukosho trustee.

Meanwhile, PF District Political Secretary Shina Bwalya disclosed that a total of 188 members from UPND and MMD have joined the PF.

She said that the defections have cleared the notion which has been created by the opposition that PF does not want new members.
