Stanbic bank workers wear black to protest pathetic salaries

Workers at Stanbic Bank have gone on a silent protest demanding better pay.

The workers who are demanding an increase of K1, 500, 000 across the board also want their union leaders to step aside as they feel they are not representing them well.

Management has offered workers K500, 000 which workers have rejected.

To express their unhappiness at both the union for failing to represent them well, and management for given them less than what they are demanding, workers have resolved to start wearing black clothes.

A source at Stanbic says all unionised workers will be wearing black clothes on agreed days until their grievances are addressed.

Stanbic is a branch of South Africa’ Standard bank, the biggest bank in Africa in terms of branch network and capital.
