Charity Katanga: living in fear

Northern province police commissioner Charity Katanga is living in fear of her life due to witchcraft practice against her by some other policemen under her command.

Police sources close to Katanga have told the Watchdog that Katanga has often been dreaming having weird dreams ranging from grave walking to sexual intercourse with unknown men in the night. The source further says that the occurrences started shortly after Katanga went to Kasama. Katanga is said to be a very cruel and disrespectful person.

“When she came she started displaying bad traits of a cruel commander both to civilians and police officers. You know she is a young lady but there are elderly people in the service and even if she is their boss, she needs to treat them with respect unlike the way she openly shouts at some of them,” said the source.

The source further said that recently she called a staff meeting in Kasama where she expressed her concerns of witchcraft and jokingly told male officers that those that wanted her should just approach her instead of visiting her through her dreams.

Because of the witchcraft torment she is facing, Katanga has been pleading with politicians so that she can be transferred elsewhere. And a family source says Katanga’s cantankerous and cruel behavior is noticeable even in the family. The barren police commissioner once organized for the arrest and humiliation of her boyfriend while in Livingstone because the man was allegedly having an affair with another woman where he had also fathered a child. In Kalomo she was threatened to be raped by some local people.
