Information reaching the Watchdog is that suspended Zambia Airforce commander Eric Chimese has now been officially sacked,
Two weeks ago, Lieutenant General Chimese was suspended before his office and house were searched by the ACC, DEC and OP officers.
Chimese has been under house arrest from the time he was searched.
According to people close to the case, the firing of Chimese follows the conclusion of investigations and could mean a formal arrest will soon.
Sources say investigators discovered massive looting of national resources using ZAF facilities by Chimese and his henchmen.
It is further believed that Chimese was using the proceeds of corruption to fund a clique within PF that wants to usurp power from president Edgar Lungu. The clique which calls itself ‘Luapula United’ is led by health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya.
Major General David Muma (in the photo below) is now air Commander, but still in acting capacity. The Watchdog understands that Muma will soon be promoted to Lieutenant General and be sworn in as substantive ZAF commander.
