Taxing the church is wrong – HH

UPND President Hakainde Hichilema writes below…

With my wife, Mutinta and several party officials, this morning we joined our brothers and sisters at Mapepe SDA Church in Chilanga to give praise to the Lord, God Almighty for the gift of life.

We absolutely enjoyed the service whose message was centred on unity of purpose if as a people of God, we are to achieve our goals.

We also used the opportunity to stress the need for unity in the church while preaching the gospel.

We are fully aware that the Church is equally under stress regarding the social and economic development. However we would like to encourage people to remember God’s word which states ‘He has made everything beautiful in His time’.

When in government, we will ensure that any activity or instrument used to take the gospel forward is not taxed, because taxing that which is used to preach the gospel, for example music instruments is the same as taxing God, Almighty our creator.

We shall not allow the taxing of God, including land rates where the churches are being built or standing already.

As a Christian organisation, UPND will ensure that true Christian values are upheld in our country.

Blessed afternoon,

HH.
