NO sacred cow
Am writing this in line with the decision the district authorities have taken to investigate allegations of sexual abuse at Chipembi Girls secondary school. A lot of things have happened at our and some of them are even well known by the administrators. The issue at hand here is that, we are molested by some few male teachers and other staff. I say some because not every single or married male is involved in this act. Most of them treat us like their own children with respect and encourage us to work hard and to be focused in order to achieve our dreams. It is not long ago when the School Chaplain was transferred because of the same pupil – chaplain relationships. This was a man we thought we could go to when we need spiritual counselling but turned to be something when it comes girls. Not only the pupils but also some church members complained about his behaviour. It being a mission school the problem was sorted out administratively. As this was not enough …Next the account was caught red handed with a pupil in his house by some prefects and to our surprise the pupil was just dropped as prefect and no suspension. Few weeks ago the central province PS visited our school and informed us to report any cases related to sexual abuse by teachers. Yes this issue is real because these affair happen because others do it for fun. I say for fun because some girls come here at this school because they are a problem at home and Parents have failed to control them so they are somehow used and can’t stay without sex, others because they are found on the other side of the law and threatened just like it was a case at KG, others it’s because they fancy some female teachers married to their former teachers .Finally I feel it has been hard to discipline these male teachers (both married and single) by the headmaster because himself and a few have married their former pupil and where known for such act. It is my wish that findings of the investigations should not leave sacred cows. To a larger extent this situation is somehow encouraged by teachers who have married their former pupils and are still working here at this school. It is my humble appeal the powers that be that incase one marries his former pupil be transferred from the school.
