MEDIA NOTICE*

7th December 2018.

Notice is hereby given that a consortium of Ten political parties will today present a notice to the Zambia Police service command in Lusaka province on the planned demonstration by opposition parties.

Kindly take note that the presentation of the notice for a public procession was initially supposed to have been held yesterday.

The postponement has been necessitated to accommodate other political groupings that have shown interest to join the peaceful demonstration.

According to Statutory Instrument No.62 of 2018,the President’s Salary was increased from K447,599 to K487,839 per annum. This translates to an increase of K40,240 per annum or K3,353.33 per month.Furthermore his Special Allowances were increased from K117,648 to K129,413 per annum an increase of K11,765 per annum or K980.42 per month. This brings the MONTHLY SALARY OF THE PRESIDENT TO K51,437.The other day I looked at an advertisement on the Zambian jobs Website where a Company was recruiting a Director of Finance whose entry salary was pegged at K75,000 per month or K900,000 per year.If ECL was an Accountant he probably would apply for the job as it would pay him more.

Given the RIGHT OF INDIVIDUALS TO DEMONSTRATE is it really worth while to demonstrate over K51,437 per month the President gets through approved mediums like Parliament per SI 62 OF 2018?

Njimbu go to Pacra and read what they are called, they are called political parties by the people who are paid to do that Job. so what is your problem?, and as far as everyone apart from you is concerned they are political parties meaning ‘an organization of people who share the same views about the way power should be used in a country or society (through government, policy-making, etc)’
