Minister of Health Kapembwa Simbao has told Parliament that there were enough doctors and health personnel in the country and that there was no need for people in the country to worry.
Simbao said that there were about 150 doctors on internship and 47 doctors doing masters programme in the field of health in high learning institutions across the country and abroad respectively.
Simbao told Parliament Thursday when he was answering a question during an oral and answer session from Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili who wanted to know the number of health personnel employed in the Ministry of Health countrywide.
He stated that the Ministry was doing everything to improve the conditions of service for health personnel in the country.
ZANIS reports that the Minister said there were over 3,000 vacancies in the Ministry of Health adding that currently a recruitment exercise was being undertaken and called on all candidates with genuine qualifications to join the Ministry.
And the Minister also stated that just this year, Government had instituted massive infrastructure development in the Ministry of health and that it would continue with the noble task in next year’s budget because the State valued the importance of health in the country.
