Third day: police tear-gas Hone students

Students at Evelyn Hone College have rioted on the third day of demonstrations over PF government’s failure to improve sanitary and the general learning environment at the biggest public college.

The students are now also demanding an apology from PF minister of education John Phiri for shouting at then on Wednesday when he went to try to resolve the problem.

The college had been sealed by anti-riot police from Tuesday as the students continued denouncing government inside the campus.

The smaller entrance which is near Central police station is been managed by the police. But just after lunch on Thursday, the students mobilised themselves and gushed out from the entrance near former PPAZ offices and blocked Church road just outside Fairview hotel.

The police responded immediately with tear-gas canister and were by 16 hours local time still running battles with students.
